About Peat Wholesale

Peat Wholesale Limited started life in 1969. We are a family run business and we employ in excess of 20 staff. All our staff are highly trained and have an excellent knowledge of our products. We specialise in wireless and hard-wired audiovisual background and foreground systems. We carry large stocks of amplifiers, loudspeakers, microphones and flexible A/V cables. Our trade counter is a superb meeting place for dealers, contractors and installers. Complimentary tea and coffee is available. Our sales representatives call on all the major electronic centres, department stores and music outlets countrywide both north and south. Our trading hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30 pm. Friday 8am to 4.00pm.

No.25 Parnell Street 1969
In April 1969 Peat Wholesale Ltd open in 25 Parnell St. Although the premises were on the main street it was trade only as it is to this day. In 1969 many independent Radio and TV dealers were within walking distance from Parnell St.

Chapel Lane 1972
By 1972 business had grown and more space and staff was required, we moved into Chapel Lane. The trade counter became the backbone of the company; Noel Miller joined us from Radionics to run this section. Servicing products in those days was very important and Philip Peat took charge of this.

The Apex warehouse was acquired in the 1980s
The products offered were Accessories earpieces, blank cassettes, headphones, jack plus and jack sockets, all types of connectors, power supplies, transformers, record cartridges and stylus, sleeves for vinyl records, replacement loudspeakers, flexible cables, screened cables, empty loudspeaker cabinets, loudspeaker re-coning, multi-meters, soldering irons, solder, mixers, sound echo units, tools

Main line products were public address amplifiers, hi-fi amplifiers, tuners, cassette recorders, record players, loudspeakers, microphones, disco equipment and oscilloscopes. Well-known brands handled by Peat Wholesale Ltd at that time were, Ross, Adastra, Eagle, Trio, Altai, Bib, Acos, Goodman Loudspeakers, and Philips.

Geoff senior was the sales rep and Isabel ran the office; Bernard Creevey Isabels brother joined the company in 1969. Both continue to work in the company to day. Geoff senior retired in 2000
